Our focus for 2020
This year our focus will be on bearing fruit.
Since this year is the year of “Plant health” (as per the UN), we have also received our focus to concentrate on the health of our “plant” this year. For us to understand what a healthy “plant” looks like we first must understand what makes our “plant” sick… For this we must look at what the Bible tells us:
Now the practices of the sinful nature are clearly evident: they are sexual immorality, impurity, sensuality (total irresponsibility, lack of self-control), idolatry, sorcery, hostility, strife, jealousy, fits of anger, disputes, dissensions, factions [that promote heresies], envy, drunkenness, riotous behavior, and other things like these. I warn you beforehand, just as I did previously, that those who practice such things will not inherit the kingdom of God. – Galatians 5:19-21 AMP.
In this scripture we find a list of things that will cause our “plant” not to be healthy! You just need to look at the list and analyze it to see what the causes are of so many sick plants in society today…
But this is not our aim. We are aiming to have good and healthy “plants”! For our “plants” to be healthy we need to not only avoid things that can make it sick, but we also must give it “good food” to make our “plant” grow and be healthy. Once again, we are looking to the Bible for some guidelines in this regard:
But the fruit of the Spirit [the result of His presence within us] is love [unselfish concern for others], joy, [inner] peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control. Against such things there is no law. – Galatians 5:22-23 AMP.
These are the things that we want and need to produce in our lives to show that our little “plant” is healthy! During 2020 we will be looking at these virtues and values and we will be looking at and for ways to achieve these fruit in order to show the world that God is within us and using us to promote His Kingdom right her and right now on earth…
So, how are we going to achieve this? We once again look to the Bible to give us some advice in this regard…
Do not neglect to do good, to contribute [to the needy of the church as an expression of fellowship], for such sacrifices are always pleasing to God. – Hebrews 13:16 AMP
This scripture tells us what we need to do. We need to “do good”. We must look at helping those in need.
Using this as our departure point, we will be looking at a bright and new 2020. We will be seeking God`s will and doing His will on earth. We will be looking at ways to bear fruit, to have healthy “plants” that will produce good fruit. Fruit that will represent God in the world and please God. His will be done…by helping those who need Him the most!
